A Georgia nail salon charged a woman $5 extra for being fat. Michelle Fonville says the nail-salon manager explained that the surcharge would cover the eventual cost of repairs to her chairs, which are designed for people 200 pounds or less. “I mean come on, we’re in America,’’ Fonville said. “You can’t do that.’’

A Hawaiian man is suing the makers of his favorite videogame, claiming he should have been warned that it’s addictive. Plaintiff Craig Smallwood says he spent about 20,000 hours playing the Lineage II virtual-world simulation over five years, and that his addiction interfered with his “usual daily activities such as getting up, getting dressed, bathing, or communicating with family and friends.’’
