Louisiana-born adult film star Stormy Daniels has decided not to challenge embattled Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) in a run for the U.S. Senate, despite urging from supporters. Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, had appeared to be preparing for a campaign by repeatedly criticizing the family-values image of Vitter, who was caught in a Washington prostitution ring scandal in 2007. But she concluded the obstacles were too great. "The simple fact that David Vitter has $5 million in his bank account pretty much says it all," Daniels said in a statement released last week. "Against that shear accumulation of special interest dollars, I have no legitimate means of winning." Along with Daniels' fans, bloggers have expressed "disappointment" over Daniels' decision, primarily because of the interesting headline opportunities her run would have inspired. "Oh Stormy," says Julie Mason at the Washington Examiner. "We could have had so much fun together!" Watch an early interview with Stormy Daniels, when she was still considering a Senate run, below:
