In an announcement that shocked no one, Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin confirmed long-standing rumors that he’s gay. Martin, who helped launch the 1999 Latin explosion in pop music, came out in a statement to fans, saying, “I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man.’’ After years of coy denials, he said he decided that "enough is enough” while writing his memoirs. Martin said fatherhood had also motivated him to live more honestly. He has 2-year-old twin sons born to a surrogate mother.
