Kate Winslet and director Sam Mendes are separating after seven years of marriage. The couple met in 2001 when Mendes, 44, tried to cast the actress, 34, in a play he was directing. They married two years later. Winslet’s lawyer called the split “entirely amicable and by mutual agreement,” and said that the couple are committed to parenting their son, 6, and Winslet’s daughter, 9, who is from a previous marriage.
