Richard Heene began serving a 90-day jail sentence this week for orchestrating the infamous “Balloon Boy” hoax last October, in which he claimed that his 6-year-old son, Falcon, had floated away from the Heenes’ Fort Collins, Colo., home in a homemade helium balloon. Heene pleaded guilty to a felony charge, but insists he really thought his son was in the balloon. His wife, Mayumi, will begin a 20-day jail sentence when Richard’s sentence is completed.
