Show of the week: Independent Lens: Young@Heart

Instead of going gentle into that good night, the choral group Young@Heart—whose average age is 80—chooses to get loud, performing covers of hard-rock hits by the likes of the Clash, the Ramones, and Jimi Hendrix. This beguiling documentary follows the group over seven weeks of preparation for a new show, as it struggles to deal with the sudden deaths of two of its members. Eschewing treacle, the film is a testament to the importance of community and the redemptive power of rock ’n’ roll. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 9 p.m., PBS; check local listings
