For more than 30 years, NBC correspondent Bob Dotson has captured the extraordinary lives of ordinary people. There was the ex–truck driver who became a renowned surgery teacher; the street vendor who sold enough $5 potato peelers to buy a Park Avenue apartment; and the man who built a golf course for his handicapped son. Dotson also profiled communities, such as a colony of Russian Orthodox Old Believers in Alaska. On Christmas Eve, the profiles that garnered him four Emmys are featured in a prime-time special. Thursday, Dec. 24, at 8 p.m., MSNBC
