An Illinois bus driver has been suspended for wearing a pink necktie in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. William Jones says his sister and grandmother both battled cancer, and he didn’t think anyone would object to his pink tie. But officials said that “any time there is a deviation from the uniform, the employee must ask in advance.”

The costume—a space-alien mask, prison jumpsuit, and “green card”—implies the wearer is from outer space.
