Elton John’s attempt to adopt a 14-month-old Ukrainian boy may end in disappointment. The 62-year-old singer had hoped to adopt an HIV-positive child named Lev, whom he and longtime partner David Furnish met during a recent tour of a Ukrainian orphanage. “He’s stolen my heart,” said John of the toddler. But Ukraine’s youth and family minister said that John is too old, and that Ukrainian law requires adoptive parents to be married heterosexual couples.
