Prisoner smuggles gun in layers of fat
A 600-pound man smuggled a gun into a Texas jail between layers of his flab, say prison officials. George Vera, 25, was searched three times upon entering the prison system and was there 36 hours before confessing that he had a 9mm handgun and two ammunition clips hidden in folds of fat. “We teach officers to lift up and look under,” said police union president Gary Blankinship. “The officer may not have arrested anyone this big before.”

Madonna has asked her personal trainer to make her arms look less sinewy. The 51-year-old pop icon has subjected herself to a punishing regimen of workouts and weightlifting in recent years, but after photos of her bony, tendon-strung upper arms made the rounds on the Internet, Madonna has realized that “she might have to tone it down,” a source told an Italian magazine. Her personal trainer, the source said, has advised her to “do more stretching exercises,” and “Madonna has decided to take that advice.”
Cat blamed for downloading child porno
Animal-behavior experts are puzzling over the case of a Florida man who says his cat downloaded child pornography onto his computer. Keith Griffin, 48, has been arrested and charged with possessing more than 1,000 illegal images, but insists he had nothing to do with it. An avid music buff, Griffin says he would often be downloading songs, leave the room for a moment, and return to find his cat up on the keyboard and his screen full of “strange material.” Griffin is being held on $250,000 bail.
