Best websites for handy traveling
Travel sites for cycling enthusiasts, cruise junkies, and those who need—or want to provide— a couch to sleep on.
Couchsurfing.org connects people worldwide who “either need a couch to sleep on while traveling or who are willing to let a traveler stay on his or her couch for a night or more.” The point “isn’t just to find free accommodation,” according to its founders, “but to create understanding among people.”
Rentabikenow.com is “for cycling enthusiasts who want to make sure they have wheels when they arrive.” Enter a reservation time for a given city, and the site lists the location of the nearest rental shop, type of bike available, and prices.
Cruisejunkie.com lets you double-check the safety record of “the world’s cruise ships, including illness outbreaks, persons overboard, pollution mishaps, crimes, sinkings, and accidents.”
