Chiang Mai, Thailand
Chiang Mai has become the largest and busiest city in northern Thailand, said Condé Nast Traveler. But you can still find peace in
the valley just outside. Veranda, a “breathtaking compound of timber and concrete structures,” sits in a vale “dense with rice paddies, wild flowers, and tropical greenery.” Sip a glass of freshly squeezed lemongrass, courtesy of the “quiet and smiling staff,” before heading to one of three “low-slung buildings.” Together, these buildings house 69 rooms with patios and plunge pools, each with a splendid view. A dip in the rooftop infinity pool “adds drama to the panorama.”
