Good Day, Bad Day
Betting on a dark horse, a power nap
GOOD DAY FOR: Betting on a dark horse, after online gamblers who placed $100 on Hillary Clinton to win in New Hampshire Tuesday earned payoffs of up to $10,000, according to data from Irish online prediction market Intrade. “Certainly those long-shot bettors are looking very happy,” said Wharton School of Business professor Justin Wolfers. BAD DAY FOR: A power nap, after security firm Wackenhut’s CEO, Gary Sanders, resigned amid controversy over a company guard who was caught sleeping while guarding a nuclear reactor in Pennsylvania. Wackenhut guards 21 commercial nuclear plants in the U.S. Exelon canceled Wackenhut’s contracts to guard its 10 nuclear plants last month. (The Washington Post, free registration)
