What happened
Britney Spears was taken from her home on a stretcher by paramedics Thursday night and is currently being evaluated at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles. Police were called when she refused to hand over custody of her two children to ex-husband Kevin Federline’s bodyguard. A police spokesman said Spears was taken to the hospital because officers believed her to be under the influence of an unknown substance. (AFP)

Well, “Britney finally had the meltdown we all knew was coming,” said Jennifer Cady in E! Online’s blog The Hum. To make matters worse, “no one in the hospital wanted to sit with her, and K-Fed’s attorney Mark Kaplan Vincent” went to court today to try to “strip Britney of her visitation rights.” But at least not everyone has abandoned her: “Moments after hearing the news, a couple of Britney’s most dedicated fans started a candlelight vigil outside Cedars-Sinai. Perhaps they should be on lockdown too.”
There really isn’t “a better place for Britney Spears to be than the psychiatric ward,” said the Seattle Post-Intelligencer’s blog. “After over a year of totally insane behavior, medical professionals will finally have their say in the matter.” And now it “looks like Jamie Lynn won’t be the only Spears on magazine covers next week. Perhaps its jealousy that drove the fame-obsessed celebrity to pull this stunt in the first place?”
Actually, I think “Britney is suffering from some sort of post-partum induced psychosis,” said the blog GlossLip. Britney was pregnant with Jayden “within three months of having Sean, and experts in the field agree” that “having children so close together can be exceptionally damaging to your body.” She “really seemed to unravel after the birth of Jayden back in September of 2006.” Then again, her supposed drug use, “serious disposition for mental illness,” and “chaotic and entitled lifestyle” probably doesn’t help matters.
