Kiefer Sutherland is a “model prisoner,” said Glendale, Calif., city jail spokesman John Balian. The 24 star this week began serving his 48-day sentence for drunken driving and has been assigned to folding laundry and serving meals to his fellow inmates through slots in their cell doors. “He’s not happy to be here,” said Balian, “but you can tell from his demeanor that he’s sorry and takes responsibility for what he’s done.” Sutherland has a private cell and little contact with other prisoners, but no special privileges.
Ashley Judd was stricken suddenly with appendicitis while filming a movie in Vancouver, said The National Enquirer this week, but survived the ordeal because the film was shooting on location in a hospital. “When paramedics arrived, they simply put Ashley on a stretcher and wheeled her into an operating room nearby,” said a source.
Jodie Foster publicly acknowledged her longtime female partner for the first time last week, said the Los Angeles Daily News. Speaking at an awards ceremony for women in entertainment, Foster thanked “my beautiful Cydney, who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss.” Foster was presumed to have been with television producer Cydney Bernard since 1993, but has never openly discussed her sexual orientation. They have two children together.

British singing star Amy Winehouse was photographed wandering the streets of London at 5 a.m. last week dressed only in jeans and a bra. Winehouse, who has struggled with drugs and alcohol, heard a noise while she was sleeping and went outside to investigate, her spokesman said. Her mother, Janis, 52, wrote an open letter to a British tabloid after seeing the photos, asking Amy to come home. “Early fame has overwhelmed you,” her mom said. Days after the incident, Winehouse received six Grammy nominations.
