London
Foreigners consider the British to be cold and humorless, the British Tourist Authority said this week. The group surveyed thousands of people from 35 countries about their attitudes toward Britain and the British. Most foreigners graded British people very badly on sense of humor and friendliness. Germans said that only Russians were less friendly, while French respondents drew a distinction between the English (reserved and arrogant) and the Scots and Welsh (relatively warm). Britain is the sixth most popular tourist destination in the world, after France, Spain, the U.S., China, and Italy.
