Biography slimes Bush

A new book by celebrity biographer Kitty Kelley claims that President Bush used cocaine at Camp David during his father’s presidency. The book, The Family: The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty, also says that Bush once helped an ex-girlfriend get an abortion and that first lady Laura Bush used to smoke pot. White House spokesman Scott McClellan called the book “garbage,” adding that it was full of charges that were “discredited, disavowed, and dismissed years ago.” The charge about Bush using cocaine is attributed to Sharon Bush, the former wife of the president’s brother Neil. She has since issued a statement denying that she ever made the claim. But Kelley’s publisher said the book was solid. “Kitty has never had to retract anything published in any of her books,” Doubleday publisher Stephen Rubin said.
