Greek terrorists captured

The week's news at a glance.

Athens

Greek police have arrested seven members of November 17, a small and secretive terrorist group that eluded them for more than 27 years. The extreme-leftist group, which took its name from the date of a 1973 student uprising, first made its mark with the 1975 assassination of Richard Welch, the CIA station chief in Athens. In the years since, N17 has killed 22 people, including American, Turkish, and British diplomats. The police finally got their break last week, when an N17 member who injured himself while making a bomb ratted out his comrades in a plea bargain. Police said the group had been planning to attack NATO troops in Macedonia next month.
