Borussia Dortmund have told Arsenal they will need to break their transfer record to sign striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Daily Star says Dortmund rejected a bid of more than £50m and are looking for a fee “closer to £60m” for Aubameyang. Arsenal paid £52m for Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon and will need to go higher to secure the striker’s signature.
Olivier Giroud: Arsenal to Borussia Dortmund
If Arsenal do buy Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund, Olivier Giroud will not be part of the deal. The French striker was linked with a move to Dortmund, but according to Sky Sports sources he won’t be leaving Arsenal during the January transfer window. The Daily Mail says that Dortmund’s talks with Giroud have “hit an impasse”.
Olivier Giroud: Arsenal to Chelsea
In a sensational twist, the Daily Mirror reports that Chelsea are “considering a move” for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud. The Blues are searching for a frontman to compete with Alvaro Morata and Giroud could be a possibility for the Stamford Bridge club.
Aymeric Laporte: Athletic Bilbao to Manchester City
Sky Sports says that Manchester City are close to signing Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte. The Premier League leaders are happy to match Laporte’s £57m release clause in his Bilbao contract and talks are now taking place for the 23-year-old Frenchman.
Riyad Mahrez: Leicester City to Arsenal
Despite being seen at the Emirates watching Arsenal’s Carabao Cup win against Chelsea on Wednesday, Riyad Mahrez won’t be leaving Leicester City during the transfer window. Leicester boss Claude Puel says that Mahrez was at the Emirates to scout for the Foxes, the Daily Mirror has reported.
Guido Carrillo: AS Monaco to Southampton
Argentinian striker Guido Carrillo has signed for Southampton from AS Monaco. The Saints have paid £19.1m for the 26-year-old and he has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at St Mary’s. Carrillo has scored 20 goals in more than 50 games for Monaco.
