Mats Hummels raises Man Utd hopes with talk of Dortmund exit
'Moving abroad will be good for me,' says long-term Man Utd transfer target Hummels
The German World Cup winner has long been linked with Old Trafford, and now Talksport says Hummels has admitted that he's thinking of a fresh challenge for next season after the disappointment of the current campaign at Borussia Dortmund. "I think moving abroad will be good for my professional and personal well-being," he told Germany's Kicker. Though he wouldn't be drawn on possible destinations, the midfielder added: "I'm being open about this because I'm not a fan of those who claim they are staying but, behind the scenes, have actually secretly agreed a transfer away from their current club."
Turkish club Beşiktaş have issued a statement denying that they have made a bid for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech. The veteran shotstopper is known to be unhappy playing second fiddle to Thibault Courtois at the Bridge, and Turkish media reports that rumours have been mounting in recent days to the effect that Besiktas could be poised to make a move for Cech despite other stories suggesting that Arsenal are circling. That's prompted the club to issue a statement, saying: "For the past two days rumours keep being published in the press linking Beşiktaş with Petr Cech, as we have already revealed, these stories are all false." Nonetheless the club, known as the Black Eagles, are on the lookout for a new keeper after the incumbent, Tolga Zengin, has made a series of gaffes in recent games.
The saga of Angel Di Maria takes another twist in the Daily Mirror with the paper claiming that PSG are "ready to offer Manchester United their money back" on the Argentine striker. The 27-year-old has failed to settle since his £59.7m record breaking move from Real Madrid last summer and the Mirror claims the French champions "are willing to break the bank" to sign the South American in the summer.
