Arsenal transfer news: David Ospina, Danny Welbeck, Catalin Carjan
Colombia keeper Ospina is on his way to Napoli and Galatasaray target England forward Welbeck
Ospina set for Naples
David Ospina’s Arsenal days will be over by the end of this week, according to the Daily Mirror, which is one of several media outlets to report that Napoli have agreed a deal with the Gunners for the Colombian gloveman.
With the arrival of Bernd Leno in the summer, and the reliance that Unai Emery places in Petr Cech, Ospina realised he wouldn’t see much action at the Emirates and he’s decided to accept an approach from the Serie A side.

The Mirror reports that the 29-year-old Ospina had been “expected to join Besiktas but Arsenal’s £6m asking price saw the deal stall”. Napoli seized their opportunity and they will take Ospina on loan for this season with an option to make his transfer permanent come next May.
The South American stopper flew to Naples last night and will undergo a medical at the club today.
TalkSPORT report that in an interview Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis said: “It is true that Ospina could arrive. We are negotiating, there are still some differences on the requests.”
It’s believed those differences have been ironed out and Ospina will sign terms within the next 36 hours.
From the Gunners to Galatasaray
Another Gunner soon to be gone from the Emirates is England frontman Danny Welbeck. Reports in the Turkish media say that Istanbul giants Galatasaray “are lining up” a move for Welbeck.
Galatasaray regard Welbeck as the man to replace the void soon to be left by Bafetemi Gomis this summer. Apparently Gomis is primed to join Saudi Arabian powerhouse Al Hilal and the French striker’s goals will be sorely missed by Galatasaray.
Consequently, claims Turkish outlet Fotospor, Galatasaray gaffer Fatih Terim wants Welbeck and club officials “will travel to London this week for talks with Arsenal” and a deal is expected to be agreed before 31 August.
Carjan to join in December
Described as a “wonderkid” by the Mirror, Romanian teenager Catalin Carjan has revealed he will officially join Arsenal when he turns 16 in December.
Viitourul Domnesti midfielder Carjan is the latest youth star to join Arsenal’s academy following the arrivals of Barcelona’s Joel Lopez and Sunderland’s Sam Greenwood.
“It’s something else,” said Carjan. “It’s a big difference I cannot wait to go there to sign and it’s going to be much better. I will sign when I’m 16.”
