John Boehner wins third term as House Speaker

Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Tuesday won re-election to a third term at the helm of Congress' lower chamber.

As was the case two years ago, lawmakers from the right wing of the GOP threatened to oust Boehner in favor of a more conservative leader. Yet in the end, only 25 Republicans broke ranks, and Boehner squeaked to re-election on the first ballot.
