The latest sci-fi show from X-Files creator Chris Carter has been canceled before its first season could even debut. Variety reports that Amazon, which originally ordered a full season of Chris Carter's The After, has decided to kill the show, which it originally ordered straight-to-series. "We have decided to not move forward with The After," said Amazon Studios vice president Roy Price in a statement. "We would like to thank Chris Carter, the phenomenal cast, crew and producers for all their efforts."

If you're curious about what could have been, the pilot for The After is still available to stream at Amazon.
