New Regency has put a stop to a project that would have been set in North Korea, Deadline.com reports.

The untitled "paranoid thriller" was being developed by director Gore Verbinski, and would have starred Steve Carell. Production was to have started in March. Sources told Deadline.com that there was no plan to change the film's setting, and that it makes sense to stop the project in these early stages.
