Put aside your tattered copies of Wifey and Summer Sisters — Judy Blume's first adult novel in more than 15 years is scheduled for release in June 2015.

In the Unlikely Event is based on Blume's memories of several plane crashes that happened in her hometown of Elizabeth, New Jersey, in 1951 and 1952. "These events have lingered in my mind ever since," Blume said in a statement. "It was a crazy time. We were witnessing things that were incomprehensible to us as teenagers."

Blume's editor, Carole Baron, said the author had long promised she would write about the accidents one day. "I think she finally got to a point in her life where she couldn't hold on to the story any longer," Baron told People. In the Unlikely Event will use the crashes as background, and focus on family members and their friends across three generations.
