Three people died and four others were injured in a 16-hour hostage standoff in Sydney, Australia, that ended Monday morning, according to police. The death toll includes Man Haron Monis, the Iranian-born, self-proclaimed cleric who held hostages at gunpoint inside the Lindt Cafe.

Police did not say how the two civilian casualties — an unidentified 34-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman — were killed.
