New York is planning a 'pro-cop rally'
After a grand jury chose not to indict a New York City police officer in the death of Eric Garner, protests around the city erupted, and #BlackLivesMatter was trending on Twitter. Now, police supporters want the city to know that #BlueLivesMatter, too.
The rally will reportedly be held on Dec. 19 to show support for the NYPD. The invitation, which is going around Facebook, says the protest will begin in front of City Hall at 5 p.m. and will last until midnight.
The creator of "Thank You NYPD," the Facebook page that created the event, spoke anonymously to BuzzFeed about the rally. He told BuzzFeed that the event is "not about race" and "was not meant to be a response" to last week's protests.

"Is it just a black issue? Aren't there black police officers?" the creator said to BuzzFeed. "It's just something to support the men and women who risk their lives for law abiding citizens against the criminals in our society."
