Grumpy Cat reportedly raked in nearly $100 million for her owner in 2 years
Here's a wake-up call: Grumpy Cat, the now-ubiquitous sour-faced feline, has reportedly raked in roughly $100 million for her owner in the past two years, according to the UK's Daily Express. Grumpy's lucrative scowl, which is the result of feline dwarfism and an underbite, has helped the cat (née Tardar Sauce) land licensing deals, best-selling books, and a starring role in a recent Lifetime movie.
"I was able to quit my job as a waitress within days of her first appearance on social media, and the phone simply hasn't stopped ringing since," Tabatha Bundesen, Grumpy's owner, told the Daily Express.
UPDATE: While we're grumpy with jealousy, that $100 million estimate may not be totally on the mark. After reports began circulating of Grumpy's big payday, Bundesen told The Huffington Post that the number was "completely inaccurate," — though she declined to disclose Grumpy's specific earnings. We'll bet the kitty still makes much more than we ever will.
