The Egyptian militant group Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, which refers to itself as the Sinai Province, claims it has killed a U.S. oil worker.
The group, which is allied with the Islamic State, made the announcement on its official Twitter account late Sunday. Ansar Beit al-Maqdis claims to have killed 58-year-old William Henderson, publishing photos of his passport. According to Henderson's passport, he worked for Apache Corp. and Qarun Petroleum Co.
The group's claim has not been confirmed. Oklahoma's Enid News and Eagle published an obituary for Henderson in August that said he "passed suddenly" while at work in Egypt.
