Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel to step down
Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel will soon step down "under pressure" as President Obama prepares to revamp the nation's military campaigns against ISIS and in Afghanistan, according to The New York Times. The Associated Press, NBC, and CBS all confirmed the resignation as well.
The officials described Mr. Obama's decision to remove Mr. Hagel, 68, as a recognition that the threat from the Islamic State would require a different kind of skills than those that Mr. Hagel was brought on to employ. [...] But now "the next couple of years will demand a different kind of focus," one administration official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity. [The New York Times]
Obama is expected to announce the stunning move Monday from the White House.
