President Obama on Thursday will announce his plan to address immigration reform via executive order during an 8 p.m. ET prime time address. The president said Wednesday he would use the speech to "[lay] out the things that I can do with my lawful authority as president to make the system work better."

Previous reports suggested Obama would make the announcement Friday during a scheduled event in Las Vegas. Obama is expected to announce action that would shield millions of non-violent undocumented immigrants from deportation, and perhaps use the savings to ramp up border security.
