Watch the action-packed teaser for Insurgent, the next movie in the Divergent franchise
With a healthy $288 million gross, last year's Divergent positioned itself as the logical successor to The Hunger Games — and with Insurgent, the next entry in the franchise, less than six months away, Lionsgate is already attempting to get the hype train going.
The first Insurgent teaser wastes no time before jumping into the action. In the wreckage of a bombed-out city, Tris (Shailene Woodley) sees her mother in the wreckage of a burning house that begins to float away — setting up a gravity-defying action sequence:
It's a surreal scene that offers few hints about the overarching story of the second entry in the Divergent franchise, but moviegoers will find out more about what Insurgent has in store when it hits theaters next March.
