Since 2006, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has given a Los Angeles businessman named Danny Resnic more than $2.4 million in tax dollars to invent a new kind of condom inspired by origami, the art of Japanese paper folding. Now, Resnic is being accused of wasting much of that money partying at the Playboy Mansion, getting full-body plastic surgery, and taking exotic vacations.
While the lawsuit alleging this misconduct has yet to be settled, Resnic has been dropped by two attorneys, with the most recent lawyer saying his erstwhile client consistently refused to cooperate. If Resnic can't find another attorney, perhaps he could simply argue that he visited Playboy to conduct really thorough testing of his new product.
