The Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde spells out words of wisdom in trippy 'Let it Be' cover

The Paul McCartney tribute album The Art of McCartney is coming out in a week, on Nov. 18, and the producers have dropped a few complete tracks into the album's YouTube channel, including Billy Joel's cover of "Maybe I'm Amazed," The Cure's raucously happy "Hello Goodbye," and Alice Cooper's improbably great "Eleanor Rigby." Add to those videos Chrissie Hynde's version of the Beatles hit "Let It Be":

Hynde gives the classic McCartney ballad a subtle Pretenders treatment, staying mostly true to the original with some nice changes in instrumentation and enunciation — "words" and "be" turn into two-syllable words, for some reason. And the song plays out over a slightly trippy rendering of the lyrics — as if you didn't already know them by heart.
