Disaster almost struck in New York City on Thursday, when a construction crew working on a commuter rail expansion project drilled too far down — and right into an active subway tunnel, scraping the side of an occupied F train.

Luckily, nobody was injured among the 800 passengers on the train.

"That's a near miss," an unnamed MTA supervisor told the Daily News. As for what would have happened if the drill bit were to actually puncture the subway car itself: "Oh my God! If it had hit the train, you could forget about it! Of course we are concerned."
