Malala Yousafzai, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, said Wednesday that she will donate $50,000 to rebuild 65 U.N. schools in Gaza that were were hit by Israeli shells in July and August.

The money will come from Yousafzai's World Children's Prize winnings. She is the first person to receive both the World Children's Prize and the Nobel Peace Prize in the same year.

"Innocent Palestinian children have suffered terribly and for too long," Yousafzai said. "We must all work to ensure Palestinian boys and girls, and all children everywhere, receive a quality education in a safe environment. Because without education, there will never be peace."
