HBO Go will soon be available as a standalone service

Lost track of your old roommate's uncle's HBO Go password? You're in luck: in an investor meeting today, the network disclosed that in 2015, viewers will finally be able to subscribe to HBO Go as a "standalone service" — offering a long-awaited video-on-demand platform without the need to purchase a larger cable package.
"We will launch a stand-alone over the top service with the potential to produce hundreds of millions of dollars of additional revenue," said HBO chairman and CEO Richard Plepler. "There is huge opportunity in front of us."
HBO hasn't announced a price for the service, or even a concrete release date — but if they're smart, they'll be up and running by the time Game of Thrones season 5 rolls around.
