Gardner has 45 percent to Udall's 43 percent, plus 3 percent for Libertarian nominee Gaylon Kent and 2 percent for independent candidate Steve Shogan. The survey of likely voters was conducted from Oct. 9 to 12, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.
In the previous SurveyUSA poll from a month ago, Udall was ahead with 46 percent to Gardner's 42 percent.
