Elementary schools in Richland, Washington, are removing swing sets from school playgrounds under pressure from insurers. Swings are "the most unsafe of all the playground equipment," said school district spokesman Steve Aagard. But many residents disagree, saying that playing on swings is all part of growing up. "They were our great joy," said one local.
