Bernie Madoff's last surviving son dies
Bernie Madoff's last surviving son, Andrew Madoff, died Wednesday at 48, his lawyer confirmed. Andrew Madoff had been suffering from mantle cell lymphoma, a rare form of blood cancer.
Martin Flumenbaum, who served as the Madoff sons' attorney, told CNBC that Andrew Madoff "died peacefully" at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, surrounded by relatives.
Flumenbaum defended Andrew and his older brother Mark against allegations they knew about Bernie Madoff's $65 billion Ponzi scheme. Andrew and Mark Madoff had said they were "shocked" by their father's crimes.
