George W. Bush on Oliver Stone's W.: 'Funny, but kind of sad'

Oliver Stone's W. — a biopic of then-president George W. Bush in 2008 — drew scrutiny for its fictionalized depiction of a sitting president. Six years later, the movie is all but forgotten, but if Bill Clinton's recollections are accurate, Bush himself thought W. was just fine.
In a recent "Ask Me Anything" on Reddit, W. star Josh Brolin described a conversation between Oliver Stone and Bill Clinton in which Clinton revealed that he had loaned his personal DVD copy of W. to Bush. When Bush returned the DVD, he reportedly told Clinton that he thought it was "funny, but kind of sad."
Compared to the muddled reviews W. received upon its release, that's actually a pretty solid endorsement.
