This has been a week for terrible news. A passenger plane full of AIDS experts was shot down over eastern Ukraine. Israeli tanks are rolling into Gaza, again, with no clear objective or endgame. And thousands of refugee children fleeing epidemic violence are pouring across the U.S.-Mexico border.
Sometimes you just need a break from all the grim desperation. Jadev Payeng is just the ticket. Back in the 1970s he started planting trees on a denuded part of a huge island in the Brahmaputra River.
