Watch a 19-year-old Kanye West rap at a record store
New footage has emerged of baby Yeezus — and no, we're not talking about more Instagrams of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's baby North.
DJ Eclipse, the former general manager of the now-shuttered New York City record store Fat Beats and host of Sirius Radio's Rap Is Outta Control show, dug up some old footage of a young Kanye honing his chops at Fat Beats' grand opening in 1996 and shared it with Complex.
The video is a fascinating look at a young 'Ye, who still had eight years to go before the release of his highly acclaimed debut, The College Dropout. It's interesting to finally see a Kanye who's not totally confident and assured of himself yet. The clip ends with another aspiring MC grabbing the mic from Kanye — perhaps that guy inspired his infamous "I'ma let you finish" move? --Samantha Rollins
