While you were busy watching a pretty epic World Cup match, another iconic sporting event was featuring some drama of its own.
Across the Atlantic Ocean, in London, Wimbledon's top-seeded Serena Williams faced France's Alize Cornet this afternoon, and Cornet defeated the five-time champion 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, reports Sports Illustrated. The loss marks Williams' third time this year failing to make it past the fourth round of a Grand Slam. And, it is the 32-year-old star's earliest loss at Wimbledon since 2005.
Williams was composed during her press conference, though, noting that "everyone in general plays the match of their life against me."
