CNN International viewers saw firsthand the type of violence occurring between World Cup protesters and police during a live report this morning. CNN's Brazil bureau chief Shasta Darlington and her crew were forced to flee the streets of Sao Paulo after they were hit by a tear gas canister flung by armed officers into the rowdy crowd of protesters.

Darlington continued to report even though she was injured by rubber bullets; her producer was hit by a stun gun. --Jordan Valinsky
