Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling is now planning to sue the NBA for $1 billion in the wake of the league's decision to force the sale of the team, NBC News reports.

The suit comes on the heels of news that former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is set to buy the Clippers for $2 billion after he negotiated a deal with Shelly Sterling, Donald's estranged wife and sole trustee of the Sterling family trust.

However, an attorney for Donald Sterling told the Los Angeles Times: "There's been no sale. There can be no sale without Donald's signature." The attorney also denied the allegation, reportedly lodged by Shelly Sterling, that Donald Sterling was no longer mentally competent to make business decisions.
