Big Hero 6: Watch the goofy trailer for Disney's first animated Marvel movie
Acquiring Marvel has given Disney an entire superheroic universe to play in — but with blockbuster properties like Thor and Captain America, the studio has played it pretty safe. An upcoming Disney project takes the superhero genre in an intriguing new direction: Big Hero 6, a family-friendly animated superhero movie based on the relatively obscure Marvel comic of the same name.
The first Big Hero 6 trailer focuses less on plot and more on comedic hijinks, as the film's protagonist attempts to fit a portly white creature into an Iron Man-esque robot suit. (Spoiler alert: It goes poorly.) Though it's hard to guess at much of the film's plot from this trailer, it does indicate a sense of goofiness that's generally lacking in Marvel's live-action fare.
The last major animated superhero movie to hit theaters was Pixar's The Incredibles, which scored stellar reviews and grossed an impressive $631 million worldwide. We'll see if Big Hero 6 can follow that film's footsteps when it's released in November. --Scott Meslow
