Malaysia Airlines: 'Beyond any reasonable doubt' the missing plane crashed into the ocean and no one survived

A little more than two weeks after Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 went missing, the airline announced Monday that it is now assuming the worst — that the plane crashed into the ocean and no one survived.

"We deeply regret that we have to assume beyond any reasonable doubt that MH370 has been lost and that none of those on board have survived," the airline said in a text message to grieving families. "We must now accept all evidence suggests the plane went down in the Southern Indian Ocean."

Also Monday, Malaysia's Prime Minister confirmed in a press conference that new satellite images showed the plane most likely went down in the Indian Ocean west of Australia. The news comes days after French satellite images purported to show that the plane veered off course into that general area, and after China and Australia spotted potential debris in the same vicinity.
