Attorney General Eric Holder on Sunday said the U.S. was not at war with radical Islam per se, but rather with those who use religion as a pretext for terror attacks.
"We are at war with terrorists who commit heinous acts and who use Islam — they use a corrupted version of Islam to justify their actions," Holder said on Meet the Press. On Saturday, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said his nation was "at war against terrorism, against jihadism, against radical Islam."
In two other media appearances Sunday, Holder added that the U.S. had no "credible information" to indicate whether a terror organization sponsored the attacks last week in France. Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has claimed responsibility for the Charlie Hebdo attack that left 12 dead. —Jon Terbush
