Try to find a more surreal photo than Richard Nixon shaking hands with Elvis Presley. Can't? That might be why this gem is the most requested photo from the U.S. National Archives.
But the content of their Dec. 21, 1970 meeting is even weirder than the image itself. Presley started off the meeting by showing the president police badges he acquired from California, Colorado, and Tennessee. Later, he took a dig at the Beatles for being "anti-American."
There was also a spontaneous hug.
